Standing with Families During Back-to-School Week

Back-to-school season should be an exciting time for students and families. But this year, many of our West Philadelphia families are feeling the pressure of higher everyday costs – groceries, clothing, and even school uniforms have all become harder to afford. On top of that, recent SEPTA service cuts and fare increases are making it even more difficult for families already navigating the challenges of poverty.
Episcopal Community Services (ECS) and our supporters have stepped in. Thanks to the generosity of our community, families received an abundance of school supplies to help their children start the year with confidence. ECS has also reinforced its food support, ensuring that families facing food insecurity have one less burden to carry during this critical time.
Back-to-school should be a moment of possibility, not stress. Together, we’re making sure families feel supported and students are ready to learn.
