During ECS’ annual Staff Appreciation Day, a special award was presented to Jasmine Walker, the OST (Out of School Time) Program Manager at Feltonville Intermediate.

At ECS, this award has a special significance and history. In honor of his wife, the late Beverly Gail Barnes-Kelch, James H. Kelch, Jr., a former member of the ECS Board of Trustees, and his family have chosen to recognize outstanding ECS employees. Mr. Kelch's intentions are that this will be an annual, monetary award given to the employee who upholds and exemplifies ECS's mission.  Employees are eligible for the award after 12 months of employment; directors and previous award recipients are not eligible.

At the Staff Appreciation Day, David Griffith, Executive Director of ECS, noted: “My congratulations to all our award winners and those who have achieved different milestones and goals. Dr. Kelch, thank you for your long-term support and inspiration. Jasmine, well done. To be recognized by your peers is a unique honor.”

And her peers agreed.

One noted, “Jasmine is an outstanding leader who is very devoted to her position. She is Community, Justice, Impact and Dignity. I believe that she and definitely us here [at OST] will be truly honored with Jasmine receiving this award.”

Another said, “She’s relentless in ensuring her kids get what they need. She’s compassionate and has the heart of a true leader.”

Congratulations to Jasmine for her hard work and dedication to the ECS mission, and thank you to Dr. Kelch and his family for sponsoring The Beverly Gail Barnes-Kelch Award since its inception.

Added Griffith, “While this is staff appreciation day, and we celebrate the good men and women of ECS who do the hard work every day with the people we serve, let me be clear. The Board and I appreciate you every day of the year.”
